Job Overview
Chieftain Trailers is seeking a skilled and reliable Trailer Fitter to join our workshop team in Dungannon.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the fitting, assembly, hydraulic piping and electrical wiring of trailers. This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading trailer manufacturer with a strong reputation for quality, reliability and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out hydraulic piping and electrical wiring on trailers
- Fit braking systems, suspensions, landing legs and lighting systems
- Carry out pneumatic and electrical fit-out work where required
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in line with health and safety requirements
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment
- Work independently or as part of a team to meet workshop deadlines
- Liaise with supervisors regarding parts requirements, job progress and any issues that arise
- Use workshop tools and equipment safely and correctly
- Support general trailer assembly and mechanical fitting duties as required
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Trailer Fitter, HGV fitter, mechanical fitter or similar role
- Strong knowledge of HGV trailer systems and components
- Experience in mechanical fitting
- Ability to use workshop tools and equipment
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage workload effectively
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude
- Full UK driving licence
Experience working in a similar trailer, commercial vehicle or engineering environment would be preferred, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
Pneumatic and electrical fit-out experience, including piping and wiring, would be desirable but is not essential.
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, or equivalent
- IRTEC accreditation
- Understanding of DVSA standards and MOT requirements
