Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Floor Supervisor to oversee production operations on the shop floor in our light gauge steel and offsite assemblies manufacturing facility. The Floor Supervisor will manage day-to-day production activities, ensure quality and safety standards are met, and coordinate with teams to maintain efficiency and timely output. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and practical knowledge of light gauge steel manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Production Floor Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate all shop floor activities to ensure smooth and efficient production.
- Monitor daily production schedules, workflow, and resource allocation to meet targets.
- Ensure adherence to manufacturing specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and operational issues.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all floor operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure all team members follow safety protocols.
- Report and address any safety incidents or near-misses promptly.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, motivate, and manage shop floor operators and assembly teams.
- Allocate tasks effectively and monitor performance.
- Provide training and guidance on manufacturing techniques, safety, and quality standards.
- Conduct performance reviews and support skill development initiatives.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain high quality standards in all manufacturing processes.
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
- Complete Quality assessments daily on each department to ensure standards are kept high.
- Ensure all finished products are inspected and meet project and client specifications.
Coordination & Reporting
- Liaise with production planning, engineering, and operations teams to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports on production performance, quality, and safety metrics.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Floor Supervisor or similar role in light gauge steel or offsite manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of steel manufacturing processes, fabrication, and assembly techniques.
- Experience in supervising production teams and managing workflow.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations in manufacturing.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant technical qualification or background in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, or construction preferred.

- Record and register Accidents
- Record near misses
- Assist with the Health and Safety Audits
- Maintain the Factory Phase Plan
- Carry out and record site inductions
- Monitor the output of the various factory tasks
- Control the Temporary Works Register
- Allocate Toolbox Talks
- Control the PPE register
- Issue Safe Starts protocol
- Control LOLER records,
- Where applicable raise any Variation to the Commercial Department
- Control Plant and Material records / deliveries
- Submit labour time sheets
- Quantify fixings required by type and quantity and request from Procurement
- Control NCR forms
- QA works, snagging and back snagging
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £28,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
