- PAY RATE IS TIME AND HALF MONDAY TO FRIDAY NIGHT, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT DOUBLE.
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Steel Fixer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and fixing steel reinforcement bars in various building projects, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with safety standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in steel fixing, masonry, carpentry, or related trades to contribute to high-quality construction works.
Duties
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine the placement of reinforcement bars.
- Measure, cut, bend, and assemble steel reinforcement bars using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
- Fix steel bars securely in position using appropriate fastening methods such as tying wire or mechanical fasteners.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople including masons, carpenters, and roofers to coordinate tasks effectively.
- Ensure all steel reinforcement work complies with safety regulations and project specifications.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of materials using heavy lifting techniques and mechanical aids.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area to promote safety and efficiency on site.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in welding, handling hand tools, power tools, and mechanical knowledge related to steel fixing.
- Knowledge of carpentry, roofing, masonry, and general construction practices is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Valid commercial driving licence is preferred for transporting materials between sites.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations relevant to construction sites.
- Physical fitness to work in demanding environments and withstand long periods of standing or manual labour.
