Everything that comes in sets the standard for everything that goes out.
At CMB Foods, every delivery of raw material is the start of a product that ends up on the plate of a schoolchild, a hospital patient or a corporate guest. So getting goods in right matters — a lot. As Goods In Assistant, you'll be the first point of quality control at our site, working closely with our Stock Control Manager to ensure everything that arrives meets our specification.
It's a hands-on, responsible role in a busy environment. You'll need to be organised, accurate and alert. In return, you'll be part of a respected, growing business that values people who take their work seriously.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting the Stock Control Manager with all incoming goods checks
- Labelling all received products correctly and storing them in the right location
- Keeping packaging rooms, freezers and storerooms organised, clean and compliant
- Issuing packaging materials and cleaning chemicals to the factory as requested
- Completing stock checks at set frequencies and recording results accurately
- Reporting any delivery discrepancies, out-of-specification product or safety concerns immediately
- Ensuring supplier pallets and trays are returned efficiently
- Carrying out scale calibrations and stock takes as required
- Keeping food contact packaging covered and correctly stored at all times
What we're looking for
- Good numeracy and accuracy — you'll be counting, weighing and recording constantly
- Strong attention to detail: things that don't look right need to be reported, not overlooked
- Good communication skills — you'll be liaising with managers, drivers and production staff
- An understanding of food safety and hygiene principles (training provided)
- A physically active approach — this role involves moving stock and working across the site
- Previous experience in a goods in, warehousing or food logistics role is helpful but not essential
What you'll get
- A permanent, full-time role with a stable, well-run business
- Full training on our goods in procedures, labelling systems and food safety protocols
- A key role in the supply chain of a business with a strong reputation to protect
- Competitive pay
Pay: From £26,000.00 per year
