Overview
The Workshop Engineer is responsible for the servicing, maintenance, refurbishment, and repair of powered access equipment within the workshop. The role ensures all equipment meets the highest standards of safety, performance, and reliability, supporting the delivery of excellent customer service.
The post holder will carry out diagnostic, inspection, and compliance activities to ensure equipment is fully operational, compliant with relevant regulations, and ready for hire.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine servicing, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of powered access equipment
- Diagnose and rectify faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and inspections on returned hire equipment
- Carry out LOLER inspections and ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards
- Ensure all equipment is safe, fully functional, and ready for hire
- Follow and adhere to all Quality Management System procedures
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the workshop and company vehicles
Skills
- Proven experience working with powered access equipment or similar plant machinery
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities
- IPAF and CAP licences are essential
- NVQ qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality, safety, and customer service excellence
