We are looking for an experienced and technically skilled Senior Motorhome & Caravan Technician to join our team.
This is a hands-on senior role suited to an experienced technician who has a strong understanding of motorhome and caravan systems and takes genuine pride in delivering high quality workmanship.
You will be responsible for servicing, inspections, fault diagnosis, repairs and installations across a wide range of motorhome and caravan systems. As a senior member of the team, you will also provide technical support and guidance to other technicians, helping to maintain consistently high standards of workmanship, safety and customer service.
The ideal candidate will be confident working independently, capable of diagnosing complex faults, able to use their initiative and comfortable taking responsibility for getting jobs completed to a high standard.
Our busiest period is during the peak rental season. While the majority of working hours are Monday to Friday, some weekend and alternative weekday working will be required on a rota basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out motorhome and caravan habitation inspections and servicing.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, gas, heating and water system faults.
- Carry out servicing and repairs to braking systems.
- Undertake gas system repairs and installations.
- Diagnose, repair and install 12V and 230V electrical systems.
- Diagnose and repair heating system faults.
- Carry out detailed electrical fault-finding and diagnostics.
- Investigate, diagnose and repair water ingress, damp and associated damage.
- Carry out warranty inspections, diagnosis and repairs.
- Install a range of motorhome and caravan accessories, including:
- Bike racks
- Awnings
- TV aerials
- Solar panels
- Maintain accurate records of work and repairs where required.
- Communicate professionally with customers and colleagues.
- Provide technical support, guidance and encouragement to other technicians.
- Help maintain high standards across the workshop and contribute positively to the wider team.
- Use initiative to resolve technical problems and minimise unnecessary downtime.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with proven experience in the motor trade and a strong technical background in motorhomes, caravans or a closely related field.
You should have:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in the motor trade, with strong practical experience preferred.
- Excellent technical knowledge of motorhomes and/or caravans.
- Experience working with gas, 230V electrical and water systems.
- Strong knowledge of 12V electrical systems.
- A good understanding of water ingress, damp diagnosis and associated repair methods.
- Excellent fault-finding, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- High standards of workmanship and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of jobs from diagnosis through to completion.
- The confidence and ability to support, motivate and encourage other technicians.
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with customers and colleagues.
- A reliable, punctual and hardworking attitude.
- A positive approach and willingness to continue developing your technical skills.
- The ability to use your own initiative and solve problems effectively.
- A full UK driving licence.
NCC qualifications are highly desirable.
If you have the right experience, technical ability and attitude but don't currently hold NCC qualifications, we are willing to invest in the right candidate and support relevant training and courses.
