Trident Alternative Provision is a small, specialist setting for 30 pupils aged 11–16 with Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Anxiety‑related needs. Our ethos — Build, Nurture, Release — shapes everything we do. We build strong foundations, nurture emotional wellbeing, and release each young person’s potential so they can thrive in life beyond school.
We are now seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to join our leadership team and help drive the next phase of our development.
The Role
This is a rare opportunity to take on a strategic leadership role in a nurturing, specialist environment. You will:
- Lead and develop our thematic, highly‑adapted curriculum
- Support high‑quality teaching, learning, and assessment
- Champion trauma‑informed, relational approaches to behaviour
- Contribute to safeguarding as part of the DSL team
- Line‑manage and coach staff to deliver outstanding provision
- Support the Headteacher with operational and strategic leadership
- Ensure compliance with the Independent School Standards (ISS)
- Help shape the culture and direction of a small, values‑driven school
You will play a central role in ensuring every pupil feels safe, understood, and able to grow.
About You
We are looking for a leader who is:
- Passionate about working with pupils with ASC, ADHD, and Anxiety
- Skilled in building relationships and modelling emotional regulation
- Experienced in leading staff and driving improvement
- Knowledgeable about thematic curriculum design
- Committed to neurodiversity‑affirming, trauma‑informed practice
- Reflective, resilient, and values‑driven
- Able to uphold and embody our ethos: Build, Nurture, Release
Essential requirements include:
- QTS
- Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience
- Strong SEN experience, particularly with ASC, ADHD, and anxiety
- Experience contributing to whole‑school improvement
- Experience with multi‑agency working and EHCP processes
- Understanding of the Independent School Standards
Desirable:
- Experience in specialist or alternative provision
- Experience contributing to ISS inspections
