Coventry | Full Time | Immediate Start Available
Brown & Hawthorne Engineering Ltd is looking for an experienced CNC Miller to join our growing subcontract machine shop.
This is not a production role.
If you enjoy making the same component day after day, this job probably isn't for you.
We manufacture precision components for a wide range of industries, with the majority of our work being one-offs and small batches. Every day brings something different, so we're looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving, thinking for themselves and taking pride in producing quality work.
The Role
You'll be responsible for programming, setting and machining precision components on our Hurco machining centres. You'll also be expected to use SolidWorks to open and interrogate customer models, understand component geometry and support the programming process.
You'll work from engineering drawings and CAD models with minimal supervision and see each job through from start to finish.
This includes:
- Programming, setting and operating Hurco CNC machining centres.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and SolidWorks CAD models.
- Using SolidWorks to review customer models and verify machining requirements.
- Selecting tooling and workholding.
- Producing first-off and completed components to drawing.
- Inspecting your own work using manual inspection equipment.
- Maintaining high quality standards.
- Working closely with a small, experienced engineering team.
Essential Skills
You must have:
- Strong 3-axis CNC milling experience.
- Experience programming, setting and operating CNC machining centres.
- Good working knowledge of SolidWorks.
- The ability to read engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Experience inspecting your own work.
- Good problem-solving ability.
- Pride in producing accurate, high-quality components.
- The ability to work independently without constant supervision.
Desirable
Although not essential, we'd love to hear from applicants with experience of:
- Hurco controls.
- 5-axis machining.
- Prototype or subcontract machining.
If you're the right person, we'll provide training in 5-axis machining.
Working Hours
Monday - Thursday: 7:45am - 4:45pm
Friday: 7:45am - 1:00pm
30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Overtime
Overtime is available during busy periods and may include:
- Early morning overtime.
- A minimum commitment of two Saturday mornings per month when workloads require.
What We're Looking For
We're after someone who turns up on time, takes responsibility for their work and enjoys being part of a small team where everyone pulls together.
You'll need to be organised, reliable and capable of managing your own workload without someone constantly looking over your shoulder.
What You'll Get
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Overtime opportunities.
- Varied and technically challenging work.
- Training and development into 5-axis machining.
- The opportunity to work in a respected, well-established precision engineering business where quality and craftsmanship are valued.
If you're an experienced CNC machinist who enjoys solving engineering problems, working with CAD models and producing high-quality precision components from start to finish, we'd like to hear from you.
Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
Benefits:
