Job Summary
Garlands Pharmacy is currently seeking a Pharmacy Counter Assistant. In this important role, you will be the friendly face of the pharmacy, providing excellent customer service and supporting the pharmacy team to ensure patients receive a professional, efficient and caring service.
You will assist patients at the pharmacy counter, respond to enquiries, support the smooth running of the dispensary, and help ensure prescriptions and pharmacy services are handled accurately and efficiently. Your enthusiasm, attention to detail and commitment to patient care will help create a welcoming environment where patients feel valued, respected and well supported.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and provide friendly, professional assistance at the pharmacy counter
- Receive and process prescriptions, ensuring relevant information is recorded accurately
- Assist patients with prescription collections and general pharmacy enquiries
- Provide information about over-the-counter medicines and basic health advice within your role and level of training, referring patients to the pharmacist when appropriate
- Assist with stock management, including receiving deliveries, checking stock levels and maintaining an organised dispensary
- Maintain accurate records and complete relevant pharmacy documentation in accordance with procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming pharmacy environment
- Protect patient confidentiality and comply with pharmacy policies, procedures and professional standards
- Work as part of the wider pharmacy team to provide safe, efficient and patient-centred care
Qualifications & Skills
- Pharmacy Counter Assistant course completion and previous pharmacy or healthcare experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided
- A genuine interest in healthcare and helping people
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A professional, friendly and approachable manner
- Good attention to detail and the ability to work accurately
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Willingness to learn and develop knowledge and skills within a pharmacy environment
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality and professional standards
Pay: £25,420.00-£27,000.00 per year
