Transport Planner – Coordinator (Night Shift)
Location: London Gateway, Essex
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 plus DOE
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Hours
Monday to Friday – choose your preferred fixed night shift:
- 18:00 – 04:00
- OR
- 22:00 – 08:00
- Participation in a shared weekend and Bank Holiday on-call rota is required.

The Opportunity
As a Transport Planner – Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating container transport movements throughout the night.
This is a highly visible role where your decisions directly impact operational performance, customer service, and business success. You'll work closely with drivers, customers, ports, and internal teams to ensure our operation runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely.

Key Responsibilities
- Planning and coordinating container transport movements across the UK
- Allocating work and managing driver schedules
- Monitoring live transport operations and responding quickly to changing demands
- Liaising with drivers, customers, ports, and internal teams
- Resolving operational challenges and implementing effective solutions
- Ensuring deliveries and collections are completed on time
- Maintaining accurate transport and operational records
- Supporting transport compliance and company procedures
- Providing seamless handovers between night and day operations
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within UK container haulage or transport planning
- Strong organisational and workload management skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure
- Proactive, positive, and solution-focused approach
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to customer service
Desirable Experience
- Transport Manager CPC qualification
- Knowledge of Drivers' Hours, Tachograph Regulations, and Transport Compliance
- Experience working with major UK container ports, including Felixstowe and Southampton
- Experience within a busy logistics, transport, or haulage operation
