Job Summary
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Customs Officer to oversee the clearance of goods through customs procedures. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, facilitate efficient processing, and maintain accurate documentation. This role is vital in supporting the smooth flow of international trade and safeguarding national borders. Duties
- Inspect shipments and verify documentation to ensure adherence to customs regulations and policies
- Facilitate the clearance process by liaising with importers, exporters, and other relevant authorities
- Conduct thorough inspections of goods, including the use of screening equipment when necessary
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions, inspections, and approvals in accordance with legal requirements
- Enforce compliance with import/export laws, tariffs, and trade agreements
- Respond promptly to any irregularities or discrepancies identified during inspections or documentation checks
- Provide first aid assistance in case of emergencies within the workplace environment
- Prepare reports on inspection outcomes and submit them to supervisory personnel for review
- Air Freight experience
Qualifications
- Proven experience in compliance management or border security roles is preferred
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders and convey complex information clearly
- Knowledge of customs legislation, import/export procedures, and relevant legal frameworks
- First aid certification is desirable but not essential; training can be provided for suitable candidates
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in documentation and record keeping
- Ability to work independently while adhering to strict protocols and regulations
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive information
