We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer who designs, develops, supports tests, and oversees the production of mechanical systems, components, and products. This role involves applying engineering principles to ensure solutions are effective, reliable, and meet technical and safety standards. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, problem-solving, and attention to detail are key aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components, producing CAD models, engineering drawings, calculations, technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements.
- Support prototype development, testing, analysis, and design improvements to validate performance and functionality.
- Work with manufacturing teams to introduce designs into production, provide technical support, and resolve engineering, quality, and production issues.
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and suppliers to deliver projects, manage design challenges, and support planning, cost estimation, and project progress.
- Drive continuous improvement by enhancing product performance, supporting quality and environmental standards, mentoring colleagues, and improving engineering processes.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required to support the needs of the business.
Desired Skills for this role:
- Degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering or experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience in mechanical design, analysis, and production support.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or Creo).
- Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals, materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., FEA, CFD) and analytical methods.
- Understanding of industry standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in design work.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with teams and presenting technical information.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks effectively.
