Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and responsible Lift Supervisor / Slinger to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and carrying out lifting operations, including the safe removal and installation of stone using chain blocks, lifting slings, and vacuum lifting equipment. The role includes performing Slinger/Signaller duties, ensuring all lifting activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with lifting plans, site procedures, and health and safety regulations. Applicants must hold valid Lift Supervisor and Slinger/Signaller certifications and have experience working with stone lifting operations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate lifting operations on-site, ensuring all activities comply with safety regulations.
- Direct crane operators and slingers during lifts, providing clear instructions to ensure precise and safe handling of materials.
- Conduct risk assessments prior to lifting activities and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Maintain communication with team members using radios or other devices to facilitate smooth operations.
- Ensure all lifting equipment is inspected regularly and maintained in good working order.
- Assist with the planning and organisation of lifting schedules in collaboration with project managers.
- Operate vehicles such as lorries or specialised transport equipment when required for site logistics.
- Enforce health and safety policies, reporting any hazards or incidents immediately.
Requirements
- Proven construction experience, particularly in lifting or rigging operations.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and site personnel.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written, for clear instructions and documentation.
- Valid driving licence suitable for operating relevant vehicles on-site.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and remain organised under pressure.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to lifting operations is essential.
- Ability to work flexibly according to project needs, including early mornings or extended hours if necessary.
