We are looking to appoint a Media and Arts Technician to join our small team of technicians within the Media, and Creative Arts area. The successful applicant will have had experience of working in a visual arts setting and will possess skills, knowledge and experience in one or more of the following disciplines: woodworking, metalworking, ceramics, or textiles. Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to plan and prioritise work against deadlines are all essential attributes for this role. Experience of working in a college or school context would be an advantage.
The Curriculum Area
Media and Creative Arts is a vibrant curriculum area, which includes six A Level and three GCSE visual art specialist subjects, a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design Practice, A Level and Level 3 Extended Certificate in Media as well as Music and Theatre Studies A Levels.
The area is led by a Curriculum Area Leader who is supported by a deputy and two Assistant Curriculum Area Leaders. Together they ensure the provision of high-quality outcomes and excellent experiences for students and lead the on-going development of teaching, learning and assessment.
Media and Creative Arts is accommodated in a purpose-built arts centre and enjoys well-appointed modern studios, workshops and classrooms. We are a high-achieving department with excellent results and outstanding student experiences. Fundamental to our ethos is a commitment to respect, and to nourish students’ emerging creative identities whilst giving them teaching, learning and assessment structures that offer the best opportunities to understand their craft and accomplish their goals.

This is a permanent part-time, term-time post working 30 hours per week as soon as possible with a competitive salary on the SFCA support pay spine
The salary banding for this post will be 3 – 6 which ranges from £24,759 to £25,558 per annum (pro rata). The actual starting salary for this post is £17,430 but may be negotiated based on experience.
