Your Role
We are looking for an Admissions Technical Lead to oversee the day-to-day delivery of Stockport’s school admissions service. You will manage and support a team of admissions officers, coordinate the annual admissions cycle and ensure applications are dealt with fairly, accurately and on time.
As the team’s technical lead, you will advise schools and colleagues, oversee complex admissions and Fair Access cases, and prepare and present the Council’s case at admission appeal hearings. You will also support wider school place planning and sufficiency projects.
About You
You will be someone who can keep oversight of a busy and varied service, support colleagues and make balanced decisions in complex or sensitive cases.
You will have excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills, with the confidence to interpret detailed guidance and explain it clearly to others. You will be comfortable building effective relationships with schools, families and colleagues, as well as identifying opportunities to improve processes. Previous experience of admissions or education access is desirable, but we also welcome applicants with other relevant experience.
About Us
Our service is responsible for helping children and families navigate school admissions and ensuring places are allocated fairly and transparently. We work closely with schools, academy trusts and services across the Council on admissions, appeals, Fair Access and the planning of school places.
You will be joining an experienced and supportive team at an important time for the service. The role offers the opportunity to combine technical expertise with team leadership, develop strong partnerships and have a direct impact on services for children, families and schools across Stockport.
