Support Worker - Make Every Day Matter

Orchid House is a friendly, four-bedroom care home in the town centre, supporting young adults with learning disabilities. We are looking for a compassionate Support Worker who shares our commitment to person-centred care and can listen, understand, reassure and advocate for the people we support.
The role
No two days are the same. You will help residents make choices, develop independence and enjoy meaningful opportunities at home and in the local community.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering personalised support in line with individual care plans.
- Helping residents access community activities, day trips, events and holidays.
- Promoting independence with everyday tasks, including maintaining a clean and comfortable home.
- Supporting positive risk-taking while following agreed risk assessments.
- Prompting and administering medication as required.
- Protecting residents' dignity, equality, privacy and confidentiality.
- Recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns.
- Completing accurate records in accordance with GDPR.
- Attending meetings, supervision, training and appraisals.
- Following infection prevention, health and safety, and organisational procedures.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and undertaking lone working when required.
Your two-week rota
This vacancy offers 48 hours across a two-week rota, averaging 24 hours per week.
Week 1 Hours availble
- Tuesday3:00 pm-9:00 pm
- Wednesday 3:00 pm-9:00 pm
- Saturday 3:00 pm-9:00 pm Week 1 total = 18 hours over 3 days (room to increase to include a night shift once probation complete)
Week 2 Hours available
- Monday3:00 pm-9:00 pm
- Saturday9:00 am-3:00 pm
- Saturday3:00 pm-9:00 pm
- Sunday9:00 am-3:00 pm
- Sunday3:00 pm-9:00 pm Week 2 total = 30 hours over 3 days
The Week 1/Week 2 rota is designed so that eligible staff working four or more days can benefit from alternate weekends off. We are paid each Friday every week.
