Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Student to join our team as a Weekend Receptionist and Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA). This paid position offers an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a career in veterinary medicine to gain practical experience in a professional environment. The role involves providing exceptional customer service, supporting veterinary staff, and assisting with laboratory tasks during weekend shifts. The ideal candidate will be organised, compassionate, and eager to learn more about animal healthcare.
This position offers valuable hands-on experience for aspiring veterinary professionals while contributing positively to our clinic’s operations during weekend hours and would be the perfect role for both student Veterinary Surgeons and Nurses.
Duties
- Greet clients and their animals warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive experience.
- Manage appointment scheduling, confirm bookings, and handle patient check-ins and check-outs efficiently.
- Answer phone calls, respond to client inquiries, and provide accurate information regarding services.
- Assist veterinary staff with basic laboratory procedures, including sample collection and processing.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update medical histories as required.
- Support the veterinary team with general kennel and clinic duties, including cleaning and organisation of equipment.
- Ensure the reception area remains tidy and welcoming at all times.
- Provide compassionate support to clients and their animals during visits.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as a Veterinary Student with an interest in animal healthcare.
- Previous veterinary or laboratory experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a friendly demeanour.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing outstanding client care.
