Absolutely — that’s a strong selling point and could attract someone ambitious who sees the role as a genuine career opportunity. I’d word it like this:
Assistant Manager – The Jesse Boot
The Jesse Boot, Beeston
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Assistant Manager to join our team at The Jesse Boot.
We’re looking for someone who is trustworthy, reliable, proactive, positive and confident, with the ability to lead by example and help us continue growing the business.
The role
You’ll work closely with the management team to support the day-to-day running of the pub and help deliver a great experience for both customers and staff.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the pub
- Leading and supporting the team during shifts
- Maintaining high standards of customer service
- Helping organise and manage staff
- Ensuring health, safety and licensing standards are maintained

- Confident leading and motivating a team
- Customer-focused and professional
- Comfortable taking responsibility and making decisions
- Flexible and willing to get stuck in
- Full of ideas and keen to help the business grow
Previous management or supervisory experience within hospitality is preferred, but isn’t essential. We’re also keen to hear from someone with good & strong hospitality experience who is ready to take the next step in their career.
Growing our student trade
The Jesse Boot currently has a small student customer base, but we see a huge opportunity to grow this.
A key part of the role will be helping us increase our student trade and make The Jesse Boot a go-to venue for students in the area.
You don’t necessarily need previous experience working with students. We’re looking for someone who is creative, confident and understands how to engage with different customer groups, promote events and offers, and come up with new ideas to attract students to the venue.
We want someone who will bring ideas to the table and take an active role in helping us grow this side of the business.
Career development
For the right candidate, there is the opportunity to progress beyond the Assistant Manager role.
We can offer a structured training and development programme with the potential to progress towards running your own pub or venue, including support towards obtaining your Personal Licence.
This is a genuine opportunity for someone who is ambitious and wants to build a long-term career in hospitality and potentially progress into running their own venue.
