Hickton Family Funeral Directors is a long-established, family-owned funeral business, serving communities across the West Midlands through a network of funeral homes.
We are seeking an experienced Funeral Arranger & Administrator to join our established head office, and main funeral home in Cradley Heath.
The successful applicant must live in or around the local area and have previous experience working within the funeral profession, ideally as a Funeral Arranger, Funeral Administrator, or Funeral Assistant with another funeral business.
We are looking for someone who can develop a strong rapport within the local community, build a positive reputation, and help strengthen relationships that bring families to Hickton Family Funeral Directors.
This position requires a person of smart appearance, professionalism, and excellent communication skills, as you will regularly liaise with bereaved families, funeral directors, hospitals, nursing homes, crematoria, ministers, and Coroner’s Officers.
Hours of Work
- 42.5 hours per week, plus overtime as required
- Monday to Friday, 08:30am – 17:00pm
- One Saturday in every four weeks, hours of 09:00 to 12:00
- Some flexibility will be required to meet the needs of clients outside of normal working hours
Duties & Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Handling funeral arrangements and associated administration
- Liaising with other funeral homes within the business
- Assisting families with both at-need and pre-paid funeral arrangements
- Handling stone masonry enquiries and memorial orders in conjunction with our memorial masonry department
- Using the Funeral Manager CRM system
- Managing client needs and wishes with care and professionalism
- Handling telephone calls, emails, letters, and general correspondence
- Liaising with clients, crematoria, ministers, hospitals, and funeral directors
- Arranging the collection of cremated remains
- Assisting with the movement of the deceased within the premises when required
- Escorting families to and from viewing rooms
- Maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of reception areas, public rooms, kitchen facilities, and toilets

The successful candidate will:
- Have excellent customer service and communication skills
- Be smartly presented, professional, and well organised
- Be proactive and capable of working independently as well as part of a close-knit team
- Have strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, with excellent attention to detail
- Be articulate, empathetic, and compassionate when dealing with bereaved families
- Be willing to build strong relationships within the local community and with prospective clients
Additional Information
- Uniform will be provided
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential
- Mileage/fuel expenses will be paid when travelling to clients or other branches on company business
- Salary will be dependent upon experience
