Nursery Deputy Manager - Kidzrus Private Day Nursery, Irlam
Full-time | 41.25 hours per week
Kidzrus Private Day Nursery, Irlam, want an inspiring and motivated Nursery Deputy Manager to join their leadership team. In this role, you will work closely with Irlam’s Nursery Manager, shaping the day-to-day experience of children, families and staff, while creating an environment where everyone can thrive.
As Nursery Deputy Manager, you’ll lead by example. You’ll support and motivate your team, champion excellent practice and help create a warm, welcoming and inclusive nursery where every child is encouraged to learn, explore and flourish. This is an opportunity for an ambitious early years educator who wants to have a real influence. You’ll be trusted to bring ideas, take ownership and contribute to the continued development and success of the setting.

Kidzrus is a community based nursery in Salford. Since opening in 2010, we have grown from one small nursery to 6 settings based across Salford with 2 new nurseries opening soon. Our staff are passionate and well-trained individuals who work together as a team to offer a home away from home environment for our children and peace of mind for our parents.

Responsibilities of Nursery Deputy Manager:
- Supporting the Nursery Manager with the day-to-day leadership and smooth operation of the nursery.
- Taking responsibility for the nursery in the Manager's absence and providing confident leadership.
- Leading, motivating and developing the team through coaching, supervision, mentoring and ongoing professional development.
- Supporting the delivery of an engaging, inclusive and ambitious Early Years curriculum in line with the EYFS.
- Creating a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where every child can reach their potential.
- Championing safeguarding, health and safety, first aid, food hygiene and all statutory requirements.
- Supporting the nursery to maintain excellent standards of compliance with Ofsted, EYFS and relevant legislation.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
- Promoting inclusive practice and ensuring children with additional needs receive the support they deserve.
- Monitoring the quality of practice and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Assisting with recruitment, inductions, appraisals and staff training.
- Supporting nursery administration, including staff records, rotas and occupancy.
- Contributing to the nursery's profile within the local community and supporting business growth.
- Communicating clearly and professionally with colleagues and contributing to meetings.
- Helping maintain a clean, secure and welcoming nursery environment.
- Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion throughout nursery life.
Requirements of Nursery Deputy Manager:
- A minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification (NVQ, NNEB, Diploma or equivalent).
- Previous experience supervising or leading a team within an early years or childcare setting.
- Extensive experience working with children aged 0–5.
- A strong and current understanding of child development and best practice in the early years.
- Excellent knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and Ofsted requirements.
- The ability to meet Ofsted suitability requirements for a person in charge of a nursery.
- Experience developing positive partnerships with parents, carers and external agencies.
- Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills.
- A proactive, positive and solutions-focused approach.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification and a full UK driving licence are desirable.
