We are seeking a dedicated Farm Estate Technician to support the effective operation, maintenance and ongoing development of our farm estate. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring that our farm, buildings, machinery and infrastructure remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose, supporting teaching, learning, commercial activities and the long-term sustainability of the estate.
About the Role
As a Farm Estate Technician, you will undertake a wide range of practical maintenance and estate management duties across the farm and associated facilities. Working closely with colleagues across the college and farm teams, you will help create a safe and productive environment for students, staff and visitors.
This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to apply practical skills across estate maintenance, land management, machinery upkeep and infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine maintenance and repairs to farm buildings, fencing, gates, tracks and estate infrastructure.
- Support the upkeep and presentation of the farm estate to a high standard.
- Assist with the maintenance, servicing and safe operation of machinery, equipment and tools.
- Undertake practical land management activities including grounds maintenance and environmental improvement projects.
- Support the delivery of estate development projects and farm improvements.
- Maintain safe working practices and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Assist with stock control, equipment checks and maintenance records.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and farm teams to support learning activities and commercial farm operations.
- Respond to day-to-day maintenance issues and help ensure the smooth operation of the estate.

Essential Requirements

Relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in estate maintenance, agriculture, land-based industries, construction, engineering or a related field.
- Strong practical skills and the ability to use a wide range of tools, machinery and equipment safely.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a practical working environment.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and use initiative to solve problems.
- Full UK driving licence.
