Alexandra's Home is offering an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and passionate children's residential professional to lead the registration, opening and development of a brand-new Ofsted children's home in Redditch.
This is an opportunity to shape a service from day one, recruit and develop your own team, establish a strong culture and create a home where children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties feel safe, valued, supported and able to thrive.
You will have genuine autonomy, alongside the hands-on support of an experienced leadership team and a Responsible Individual with an exceptional track record of achieving Outstanding Ofsted outcomes.
If you are an experienced Registered Manager who wants to make a real difference and play a key role in building something exceptional, we would love to hear from you.
About Alexandra's Home
Alexandra's Home is an ambitious new children's residential care provider with a clear purpose: to provide children and young people with the safety, stability, relationships and opportunities they need to flourish.
Our new four-bedroom home in Redditch is being developed to accommodate up to three children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
We believe residential care should offer children much more than the basics. Our vision is to create an environment that provides the warmth, security and opportunities associated with a loving family home, while delivering high-quality professional care and support.
We are committed to investing in the children who live with us, including meaningful experiences, holidays, activities, hobbies, community involvement and high-quality resources that create positive memories and support personal development.
We are also developing a genuinely therapeutic approach, with plans to incorporate:
- Art therapy
- Play therapy
- Animal-assisted therapy
- Enriching community activities and experiences
- Individualised opportunities designed around each child's interests and goals
The Role
As Registered Manager, you will take the lead in successfully registering, opening and managing the home.
Working closely with the Responsible Individual and senior leadership team, you will have a key role in establishing the home's culture, recruiting your team and ensuring the service is fully prepared for registration and operation.
You will be responsible for ensuring the home operates in accordance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, Statement of Purpose and all relevant legislation and guidance.
Most importantly, you will create a home where children feel secure, respected and listened to, while supporting them to achieve positive outcomes across their education, health, emotional wellbeing, relationships and independence.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Ofsted registration process and prepare the home for opening.
- Take responsibility for the effective day-to-day management of the children's home.
- Ensure the service consistently meets the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Maintain excellent safeguarding practices and ensure children's welfare remains the highest priority.
- Recruit, induct, supervise, develop and retain a strong and motivated staff team.
- Establish a positive, nurturing and therapeutic culture within the home.
- Develop effective relationships with children, families, social workers, placing authorities and other professionals.
- Lead staff performance, supervision, training and professional development.
- Monitor quality assurance, audits, records and compliance.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and maintain high standards of care.
- Manage budgets responsibly while ensuring children have access to meaningful experiences and opportunities.
- Promote positive outcomes in education, health, emotional wellbeing, behaviour and independence.
- Lead by example and create a culture in which staff feel supported, valued and motivated.
What makes this opportunity different?
This isn't an opportunity to inherit someone else's service and simply maintain the status quo.
You'll have the opportunity to build it.
From recruiting your team and establishing your values to creating the culture, routines and standards of the home, your leadership will shape the service from its very beginning.
You will also have the support of an experienced Responsible Individual who understands what it takes to achieve exceptional Ofsted outcomes and is committed to working alongside you.
This is intended to be genuine support, not simply oversight. You will have access to leadership, guidance and resources to help you develop a high-quality service.
