Wraparound Care LeaderJob Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and caring Wraparound Care Leader to lead our before and after-school childcare provision for children aged 3–11 years. The successful candidate will create a safe, inclusive and engaging environment where children can learn, play and thrive, while leading and supporting the wraparound care team to deliver high-quality childcare.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Team Management
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the wraparound care provision, including breakfast and after-school sessions.
- Supervise, support and motivate Wraparound Care Assistants, promoting high standards of practice.
- Act as a positive role model and provide guidance to team members.
- Support staff development and contribute to performance management where required.
- Ensure all staff follow school policies and procedures at all times.
Planning and Delivering Activities
- Plan, prepare and deliver a wide range of fun, stimulating and inclusive activities suitable for children aged 3–11 years.
- Provide activities that support children's social, emotional, physical, creative and intellectual development.
- Encourage children's ideas and involve them in planning activities where appropriate.
- Adapt activities to meet the individual needs and interests of all children.
- Organise safe indoor and outdoor play opportunities.
Childcare and Wellbeing
- Create a welcoming, caring and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.
- Ensure children are well supervised and cared for throughout each session.
- Oversee the safe preparation and serving of breakfasts, snacks and light meals, maintaining appropriate food hygiene standards.
- Promote healthy lifestyles, independence and positive relationships.
Safeguarding and Behaviour
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in accordance with the school's safeguarding policies and statutory guidance.
- Report any safeguarding concerns promptly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Manage behaviour positively and consistently in line with the school's Behaviour Policy.
- Ensure children's health, safety and wellbeing remain the highest priority at all times.
Communication and Administration
- Build positive and professional relationships with children, parents, carers and school staff.
- Provide appropriate feedback to parents and carers regarding their child's wellbeing and participation.
- Maintain accurate records including attendance, planning, accident and incident reports, and resource inventories.
- Support the effective day-to-day administration of the wraparound provision.
Quality Assurance
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of the wraparound provision, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure resources are well maintained, organised and suitable for children's needs.
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring every child has equal access to opportunities regardless of background, culture, religion or additional needs.
- Support the wider aims and vision of the school, working closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team.
Person Specification Essential
- Experience working with children aged 3–11 years in a childcare, education or play setting.
- Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Playwork, Early Years or a related field.
- Previous experience supervising or leading a team.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to plan engaging activities that support children's development.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to promoting equality, inclusion and children's wellbeing.
Desirable
- Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
- Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience working within a school-based wraparound care provision.
