Mobile Electrical Engineer – Hard FM

Rate: £26.00 per hour

About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mobile Electrical Engineer to join our Hard FM team on a minimum 6-month contract. This is a field-based role covering commercial sites across Gloucester, Worcester, Bath and Newport, carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and statutory compliance tasks.
The successful candidate must be a qualified electrician with experience working within a Hard FM environment. You will be responsible for maintaining electrical systems safely and efficiently across a varied portfolio of commercial properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems.
- Complete statutory compliance tasks, including:
- Emergency lighting testing
- Water temperature monitoring
- Basic compliance inspections and record keeping
- Carry out reactive maintenance and fault finding.
- Complete minor electrical repairs and installations.
- Accurately complete electronic job reports and timesheets.
- Ensure all work complies with current Health & Safety legislation and BS7671 regulations.
- Participate in the regional on-call rota.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent recognised qualification)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
- Experience working within a Hard FM or commercial building maintenance environment
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a mobile workload

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 8:00am – 5:00pm
- 1-hour unpaid lunch break
Travel Time
Travel time is paid at the standard hourly rate once 8 core working hours (excluding lunch) have been completed. Payment applies only where travel exceeds one hour each way and must be recorded separately on submitted timesheets.
Overtime & Call-Out Rates
Monday to Friday
- 5:00pm – Midnight: 1.5x hourly rate
- Midnight – 7:00am: 2x hourly rate
Saturday
- 7:00am – Midnight: 1.5x hourly rate
Sunday & Bank Holidays
- Midnight – 7:00am: 2x hourly rate
On-Call Allowance
- £130 per week for standard call-out cover
- £195 for one Bank Holiday
- £260 for two Bank Holidays
Call-outs are paid at a minimum of 4 hours, or door-to-door travel time where attendance exceeds 4 hours. Company vehicles are GPS tracked, and timesheets are verified against tracking data.
