We are looking for a passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic kitchen assissant to join our close knit team. We are a small cafe open as of June 2024, locating in a local vintage style market, we welcome a range of customers looking for both good quality coffee and retro memorabilia.
We are looking for a trustworthy kitchen assistant who can work alongside a small team. Our opening is flexible to cover part time throughout the week but also holiday and sickness cover.
Duties include:
- Preparing dishes alongside our menu
- Completing food orders on demand, including sandwiches, toasties and jacket potatoes
- Not afraid to do washing up!!!
- able to deal with really miserable members of the public
- Bonus points if you never tell a customer to ‘f*** off to Costa‘
- happy to listen to the same playlist everyday on loop, I have asked the landlady to chance the songs. ’everybody hurts‘ is on at least twice a day.
- Be able to prepare multiple dishes at once to fulfill a diverse order
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workspace, adhering to food safety standard
- Level 1 food hygiene is preferred but not essential
- Bonus points if you can bake, or are willing to learn
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure timely service without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations throughout the shift.
- Clean tables and maintain the cleanliness of the cafe front
Food level 1 hygiene certificates are preferred however can be completed if successful.
In due time, you will also be trained in barista skills and handling a POS system. This can be done later on as you progress in the job role
Experience
- Previous experience in a café or similar environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided. .
- Understanding of food safety practices is advantageous to maintain hygiene standards.
- Strong time management skills are essential to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- A willingness to help colleagues and contribute positively to the team dynamic is highly valued.
