About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our Customer Support team and provide a high level of technical support to customers throughout the lifetime of our products.
This is a hands-on, customer-focused role involving technical fault-finding, repair, commissioning, testing and maintenance of Load Bank and Dynamometer equipment. Support will be provided remotely and at customer sites, with regular international travel required as part of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct technical support to customers, diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults across Load Bank and Dynamometer products via telephone, email, remote connection and on site.
- Carry out commissioning, testing, customer training, planned maintenance and repairs at customer sites worldwide, with travel sometimes required at short notice.
- Manage warranty claims and service activities, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and to the satisfaction of both the customer and Avtron.
- Produce accurate service reports, commissioning documentation, fault analysis and certification, while maintaining detailed service records using SAP Business One.
- Work closely with Sales, Design, Production and Customer Service teams to support continuous improvement, identify recurring issues and ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental and International Trade requirements.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum ONC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, with formal technical training such as a structured apprenticeship desirable.
- Proven experience in electrical and mechanical fault-finding, repair and testing, ideally within an industrial or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation and test procedures.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a customer-facing environment.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and SAP Business One or an equivalent system, together with a willingness to travel worldwide and a valid passport and full UK driving licence.
