Stores and Materials Operative
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Working Days: Monday to Friday | 7am start time
Location: Donington, Lincolnshire, PE11 4TA
Main Job Purpose:
Take day-to-day ownership of the stores and goods-in operation, ensuring all materials are received, checked, accurately booked into the company system, identified and stored correctly.
The Stores and Materials Operative will maintain accurate stock records and an organised, safe stores environment, while picking and issuing materials to Production in line with business requirements.
The role will also undertake forklift duties to unload incoming deliveries and provide practical support to Delivery and Logistics with the movement and loading of finished products and other materials.
Essential Requirements:
- Practical experience in a stores, goods-in, warehouse or materials-handling role within a manufacturing or similar operational environment.
- Experience of taking responsibility for receiving, checking and accurately booking in materials against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
- A current recognised counterbalance forklift licence and safe, competent forklift operating experience.
- Good numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail, with the discipline to complete system transactions and paperwork promptly.
- Basic computer literacy and experience using a stock, inventory, ERP or similar business system.
- Ability to organise workload, maintain an orderly working area and work effectively with Procurement, Production, Delivery and Logistics.
- A practical understanding of manual handling, safe storage and general workplace health and safety requirements.
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience within timber, joinery, building products or another high-mix manufacturing environment.
- Experience with stock counts, cycle counting, minimum-stock controls and investigating stock discrepancies.
- Experience handling ironmongery, coatings, consumables, packaging or other production materials.
- Additional forklift, lifting-equipment or manual-handling qualifications relevant to the site.
- Product-specific knowledge and training on company systems and procedures will be provided for the right candidate..
