We're looking for a Caretaker to join our Bexley PFI Schools team based in Bexley.
Location: Bexley PFI Schools
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

As a Caretaker, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our school premises are safe, welcoming, and running smoothly. You'll be supporting the Site Manager and working collaboratively with school staff to maintain an environment where everyone can thrive. This is a hands-on position where your proactive approach and practical skills will make a real difference every day.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Caretaker, you'll be working within the Bexley PFI Schools team, supporting them in delivering excellent facilities management for the school community. Your day to day will include:
- Conducting regular quality checks and maintaining the premises to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality
- Performing minor repairs such as replacing light fixtures, fixing leaky faucets, patching walls, and repairing door hardware
- Ensuring security by opening and locking premises, patrolling the site, and responding to any unauthorised access
- Supporting school staff with porterage tasks including moving furniture, mounting displays, and relocating deliveries
- Managing grounds maintenance, clearing ice and snow, and maintaining a safe outdoor environment
What are we looking for?
This role of Caretaker is great for you if:
- You have previous experience in premises management, facilities maintenance, or a similar role
- You understand health and safety regulations and can spot potential hazards, taking appropriate action to keep everyone safe
- You're a great communicator who can build positive relationships with school staff, contractors, and the wider team
- You can prioritise tasks effectively and stay calm under pressure, responding flexibly to emergencies when needed
- You're practical and hands-on, with the ability to carry out routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs confidently
