Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join our team. This role involves supporting the preparation and cooking of meals for 50 residents in a busy kitchen environment. The successful candidate will contribute to delivering high-quality food service, ensuring all food safety standards are maintained, and assisting with daily kitchen operations. Previous experience in a culinary, restaurant or care home setting is preferred. Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and assembling ingredients
- Cook and prepare meals according to specified recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces
- Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to at all times
- Support the serving of meals to customers or clients in a timely manner
- Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Follow health and safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation
Requirements
- Prior experience in food preparation or cooking is desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Knowledge of special dietary requirements including modified textures and therapeutic diets an advantage
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good time management
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends and holiday cover when necessary
- A genuine interest in culinary arts and meal preparation
- Satisfactory PVG
