Senior Carer (Male)
Full-Time – 30 - 40 Hours per Week
£12.40–£14.70 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
We are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Male Senior Carer to join our residential care team supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and behaviours that may challenge.
This is a leadership role suitable for experienced Senior Carers who are confident leading shifts, supporting staff and maintaining high standards of care and compliance.
This role is exempt under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, and applications are therefore invited from male candidates only due to the specific needs of the people we support.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading shifts and supporting the day-to-day operation of the service.
- Delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
- Supervising, mentoring and supporting care staff.
- Ensuring care records and documentation are accurate and completed to a high standard.
- Completing approximately one quality spot check each week.
- Participating in the on-call rota (typically one day per week).
- Responding to operational emergencies where reasonably required.
- Supporting the safe running of the service in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- Escalating safeguarding, medication and operational concerns appropriately.
- Supporting medication administration in accordance with company policies.
- Promoting positive behaviour support and safe working practices.
- Working alongside families and external professionals where required.
- Supporting the service to achieve and maintain compliance with CQC standards.
Essential requirements
Applicants must have:
- A Level 3 Diploma (or higher) in Health & Social Care.
- Previous experience working as a Senior Carer or equivalent leadership role within adult social care.
- Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.
- Experience leading shifts and supervising staff.
- Good written, verbal and computer skills.
- A professional, reliable and positive attitude.
- Willingness to participate in the on-call rota.
- Flexibility to respond to operational emergencies where reasonably required.
Please note: This position is not suitable for Care Assistants looking to step up into their first Senior Carer role. Applicants must already have experience performing the duties of a Senior Carer or equivalent leadership position.
Desirable
- Medication administration experience.
- Experience completing audits or spot checks.
- Full UK driving licence.
