The University of Greater Manchester is looking for an experienced, proactive and technically skilled Senior IT Systems Developer to join Information Systems and Technology, with assignment to our Off Campus Division, which manages a significant portfolio of collaborative partnerships worldwide.
Effective, well-integrated digital systems underpin partnership operations, workflow automation, remote learning delivery and user experience. You will translate agreed operational and business requirements into secure, user-centred systems, workflows and services that support Division operations, academic partnerships and remote learning delivery.
Key Responsibilities
You will design, develop, implement and support systems development projects for the Division, including workflow automation, integration with existing core platforms, web-based systems, SharePoint sites, content management solutions and digital services.
You will support digital and live learning solutions, including via Moodle, while ensuring digital solutions are secure, accessible and well documented. You will also maintain awareness of emerging technologies, including AI, and assess appropriate tools against agreed divisional requirements.
About You
You will combine hands-on systems development experience with the judgement to design practical, secure and maintainable solutions in a live operational environment. You will be comfortable working with non-technical colleagues, understanding business needs and turning them into reliable, user-centred systems and services. Experience in Higher Education or the wider education sector would be beneficial.
You will bring experience of developing and supporting web systems, business systems or workflow solutions, including SharePoint development/administration and CMS administration. You will have a good understanding of web and data technologies, including SQL, HTML5, CSS, APIs, relevant programming languages and Microsoft Power Platform, together with strong UI/design skills, an understanding of data and system security and the ability to produce specifications, support documentation and training materials while managing priorities collaboratively.
