Description:
Oakwoods Care Home is a nursing care home committed to providing exceptional care for our 43 residents, and is seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to supporting the smooth running of our kitchen and the delivery of high-quality food to our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the cook/chef in preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner for residents, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Help with basic food preparation such as washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
- Wash up, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment, crockery, and utensils to a high standard.
- Keep all kitchen and food storage areas clean, tidy, and compliant with food hygiene regulations.
- Assist with receiving, checking, and storing produce and kitchen supplies, rotating stock as needed.
- Support the serving and timely delivery of meals to residents in an organised manner.
- Help gather feedback from residents on the food and menu, passing it on to the cook/chef.
- Follow instructions from the cook/chef to ensure the kitchen runs efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or catering setting is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
- A basic understanding of food hygiene and safety (or willingness to obtain a Food Hygiene certificate).
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with residents and staff.
- Dedication to maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen.
