About the Role
An established and growing engineering business is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its building services design team.
Based at the company's Market Deeping office, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to take ownership of electrical design projects, develop client relationships, mentor junior engineers and play an important role in the continued growth of the electrical discipline.
The successful candidate will work on a diverse range of projects across logistics, education, retail, leisure, commercial, industrial and high-end residential sectors, with opportunities for national and occasional international travel.

Role Purpose
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will lead the electrical design and delivery of building services projects from concept through to construction and completion.
You will work closely with clients and multidisciplinary project teams, provide technical leadership and support the development of junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical building services design across a range of commercial, residential, industrial and public-sector projects.
- Deliver projects from RIBA Stage 1 through to Stage 6/7.
- Produce and review electrical calculations, including cable sizing, fault levels, voltage drop, lighting, earthing and bonding.
- Prepare and review electrical drawings, schematics, specifications and technical documentation.
- Use AutoCAD, Revit MEP and relevant electrical design software such as Amtech/Trimble, Dialux, Relux or ETAP.
- Manage electrical design packages across multiple projects, ensuring delivery to agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.
- Ensure designs comply with BS 7671, Building Regulations, British/European Standards and relevant legislation.
- Coordinate electrical designs with architects, mechanical and structural engineers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Attend client meetings, design team meetings, site visits and presentations.
- Act as a technical point of contact for clients and project teams.
- Mentor and support graduate and junior electrical engineers, including reviewing design work.
- Assist with bids and fee proposals, including electrical scope, resource planning and project requirements.
- Ensure designs meet health and safety requirements, including CDM Regulations and relevant fire safety standards.
- Contribute to improving design standards, templates, processes and technical procedures.
- Keep up to date with legislation, industry standards and emerging technologies.
- Support the integration of low-carbon technologies including solar PV, battery storage and EV charging infrastructure.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy, contractor or similar environment.
- Strong working knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and relevant Building Regulations.
- Experience producing electrical calculations, designs, specifications and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
- Experience using electrical design and calculation software such as Amtech/Trimble, Dialux, Relux or ETAP.
- Proven ability to lead electrical design packages across projects of varying size and complexity.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
Desirable
- CEng status or working towards chartership through the IET or equivalent professional body.
- Experience with low-carbon and renewable technologies, including PV, battery storage and EV charging.
- Experience with BIM workflows and collaborative design environments.
- Knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360 or similar platforms.
- Previous experience within a multidisciplinary building services consultancy.

Working Hours
The standard working week is Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm, based from the Market Deeping office.
Early starts may occasionally be required for site visits, client meetings or project requirements.
