We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Medical Resourcing Officer to join our Medical Workforce Team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
This is a key role supporting Care Group Managers and Directors to ensure the effective utilisation of medical workforce resources. You will play a vital part in maintaining safe staffing levels through efficient rota management, coordination of medical staff rotations, and sourcing of medical locums.
You will support in the effective deployment and utilisation of medical staff across services by developing and maintaining medical rotas, ensuring adequate coverage in line with service needs and compliance requirements. You will also proactively source and coordinate medical locum cover, ensuring safe staffing levels are maintained at all times.

Supported by the Deputy Medical Workforce Manager, to work collaboratively with the Centralised Recruitment team, Medical Education Team and Clinical Leads using IT systems to ensure seamless processes are followed in regard to medical staff rotations and new starters to ensure the rotas are produced and issued within set time-frames and to minimise the need for locum cover.
To provide day to day production of “live” rotas using the Trust IT System to ensure effective and efficient deployment of the medical workforce, re-allocating medical staff as necessary to support service provision and fulfil training requirements for resident doctors as determined by the Clinical Leads ensuring data is accurate for the interface with Electronic Staff Record (ESR).
To facilitate weekly rota reviews with Clinical Directors/Rota Leads to ensure rotas are produced at least 6 weeks in advance - for forward planning of rotas and ensure early identification of rota gaps minimising risks and additional costs to the Trust; process leave requests in a timely manner and obtain instruction from CD/Rota Lead in regard to any locum requirements.
To attend departmental operational meetings as required ensuring effective communication of changes in rotas and services delivery.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities.
A new Urgent Emergency Care Centre was opened in March 2023. The two-storey development has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity and has provided almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.
