The Society of St James (SSJ) has been working in Hampshire for over 50 years, delivering high impact, person-centred, accommodation services to adults and young people experiencing homelessness, problematic substance use and mental health problems. The Role
We have a permanent vacancy for a motivated, driven, experienced Intensive Floating Support Worker (Outreach Worker), supporting people who have complex needs. Delivering trauma-informed, wrap-around, client-led support in the community and in client’s own homes.
Who we are looking for?
It is essential that you have experience of working with vulnerable people in the community or in a residential setting. Working as part of the team, you will manage a case-load of clients and be committed to providing a holistic and intensive support package, a quality day-to-day service with a focus on promoting harm minimisation, crisis management, basic life skills and emotional support.
Essential qualities and skills
ESSENTIAL – Car Driver and must hold a valid UK driving licence
We need an individual who will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience/Knowledge of working with people with histories of homelessness, mental health problems and substance misuse.
- Experience of dealing with difficult and challenging behaviour.
- Understanding of the effects of alcohol and substance use on mental health.
- Understanding of equality and diversity, with respect to staff and service users.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and protection procedures and protocols for vulnerable adults.
