Salary: £27,030 - £29,150 (subject to qualifications) plus on call payments.

Main Purpose
The Independent Gender Violence Advocate (IGVA) will work closely with survivors of gender-based violence and abuse from the point of crisis, to provide high-quality independent advocacy and support to survivors and their children.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to survivors of gender-based violence and abuse through one-to-one sessions (in-person/online/telephone), advocacy and casework.
- Establish and assess the risks and needs of survivors of gender-based violence and abuse, including FGM, forced marriage, exploitation, sexual violence, stalking and harmful practices.
- Act as an ambassador for the service, working in partnership with agencies to support a coordinated community response.
- Promote awareness of gender-based violence and abuse and the Mimram service through outreach, training, and partnership working.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date records of support provided.
General:
- Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality and information sharing policy and procedures and all legislation connected to your work.
- Remain up-to-date and compliant with all organisational procedures policies and professional codes of conduct and uphold standards of best practice.
- The role holder will be able to work within the safeguarding arena following organisation policies and procedures, be able to Recognise; Respond to; Report and Record Safeguarding issues and to understand Safeguarding Referral Pathways and where appropriate make and support staff to make high quality Safeguarding Referrals
- Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the service works in, providing a service that recognises the diverse needs of victims.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience of working with vulnerable groups.
- Have a good understanding of gender-based violence and abuse, including domestic abuse, stalking and sexual violence, and the impact it has on survivors and their children.
- Have theoretical, practical, and procedural knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies for survivors of gender-based violence and abuse and their children.
- Demonstrate the ability to be adaptable to the needs and wishes of the survivors and children.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Qualifications:
- Hold an IDVA/ISVA/ISAC/ISAS training qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience and the ability and commitment to achieve qualification within 6 months of appointment.
