About Us
Capital Service Solutions Group Ltd is an award-winning soft services provider, delivering cleaning, facilities support and specialist services to clients across Scotland and the wider UK.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced, practical and people-focused Health & Safety Manager to join our team.
The Role
This is not simply a desk-based compliance role. We need someone approachable who can work closely with our Account Managers, operational teams and frontline employees to make Health & Safety clear, practical and relevant to the work being carried out.
You will develop and maintain clear, workable risk assessments, COSHH assessments, RAMS and safe systems of work that accurately reflect our operational activities and site environments.
A key part of the role will be training and supporting Account Managers - and employees where required - so they can confidently understand, communicate and apply the relevant Health & Safety requirements and documentation.
You will also take ownership of accidents, incidents and near misses submitted through our existing Health & Safety reporting system, ensuring they are appropriately investigated, documented and followed through to effective closure.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical and proportionate Health & Safety advice and support to managers and employees.
- Produce, review and maintain risk assessments, COSHH assessments, RAMS and safe systems of work.
- Ensure Health & Safety documentation is clear, practical, current and relevant to site operations.
- Train and support Account Managers and employees to understand and correctly apply Health & Safety requirements.
- Manage accidents, incidents and near misses through our existing reporting system.
- Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations, undertake root-cause analysis, identify corrective and preventive actions and monitor them through to effective closure.
- Ensure appropriate accident and incident reporting requirements are followed, including RIDDOR where applicable.
- Conduct site inspections, Health & Safety audits and compliance checks, identifying areas requiring action or improvement.
- Review and support the development of Health & Safety policies, procedures and operational documentation.
- Deliver or coordinate relevant Health & Safety training, inductions and toolbox talks.
- Support managers in meeting client-specific Health & Safety requirements and ensuring appropriate site documentation and controls are in place.
- Maintain accurate electronic Health & Safety records, action trackers and supporting evidence.
- Keep up to date with relevant UK Health & Safety legislation, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
- Work closely with our IMS & Compliance Coordinator to support the practical implementation of Health & Safety requirements and Capital’s preparation for ISO 45001 certification.
- Promote a positive, practical and people-focused safety culture throughout the business.
About You
We are looking for someone who is practical, approachable and confident working with people at every level of the business.
You should have:
- A recognised Health & Safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a Health & Safety role.
- Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience producing and reviewing risk assessments, COSHH assessments, RAMS and safe systems of work.
- Experience investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Good knowledge of accident reporting and investigation requirements, including RIDDOR.
- Experience conducting site inspections, audits or compliance checks.
- The confidence and communication skills to train, coach and support managers and employees.
- Strong organisational skills and close attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and follow actions through to completion.
- A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to operational sites as required.
Experience within facilities management, cleaning, hospitality or another multi-site operational environment would be advantageous.
Knowledge or experience of ISO 45001 would also be beneficial.
Microsoft & Digital Skills
A high level of Microsoft 365 and general digital capability is essential. You should be confident using Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and Microsoft Forms.
You will be expected to produce professional Health & Safety documents and reports, manage electronic trackers and action plans, maintain accurate digital records, and confidently use our reporting and document-management systems.
What We Offer
- A flexible, permanent part-time position.
- A varied role across different operational environments.
- The opportunity to have a meaningful influence on our Health & Safety culture.
- A supportive and collaborative working environment built around our core values of Care, Ownership, Respect and Excellence.
- Employee wellbeing support through Bupa EAP Plus.
- Training and professional development opportunities.
- The opportunity to contribute to Capital’s ongoing development and ISO 45001 journey.
