About AKN Build
AKN Build is a growing main contractor delivering petrol filling stations, quick service restaurants, retail and commercial developments across the UK. We work with many of the UK's leading brands on projects from £50,000 to £3 million, providing a full construction service from groundworks through to completion.
As a medium-sized contractor, every member of the team genuinely matters here, and we're growing, which is why we're looking for a Project Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team in Loughborough.
About the Role
You'll take ownership of your own projects from tender through to final account, working closely with our operational teams and clients in a fast-paced environment. You won't be left to sink or swim; you'll be supported by an experienced Commercial Manager and hands-on Directors while being trusted with real responsibility from day one.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Managing the commercial side of your own projects from award to final account
- Producing spend budgets, tenders and subcontract package information
- Preparing monthly valuations, applications for payment and payment notices under JCT contracts
- Assessing and administering subcontractor payments
- Managing variations, change control and final accounts
- Attending client, valuation and progress meetings, with site visits when required
- Identifying commercial risks early and working with operational teams to protect profitability
- Producing accurate commercial reports and forecasts
What We're Looking For
- 2 to 3 years' Quantity Surveying experience following completion of your training or degree
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
- Main contractor experience, including retail and commercial projects
- Good knowledge of Design & Build and a solid working understanding of JCT contracts
- Organised, detail-driven and confident communicating with clients and subcontractors
- Ambitious, proactive and ready to take real ownership
- Full UK Driving Licence
Experience in the forecourt or quick service restaurant sectors, or with Bluebeam or Procore, is desirable but not essential.
