JD Smith & Sons are looking for an experienced all-round Painter, Decorator & Paperhanger who can also run jobs and supervise others.
This is a senior hands-on role. You will still be working on the tools.
We are a family-run decorating company, established in 1908.
We have steady work, mostly in private homes, and we are looking for good tradespeople who want a long-term job.
WHAT WE NEED
- Recognised painting and decorating trade qualification or completed apprenticeship
- At least 5 years’ experience after apprenticeship
- High standard of painting and decorating
- Confident and experienced paperhanger
- Able to run a job and supervise others
- Able to work on your own when required
- Able to take responsibility for the standard of the finished job
- Confident dealing with customers
- Reliable and punctual
- Full UK driving licence
- Willing to work overtime when required
Paperhanging is essential for this role.
No formal supervisor qualification is required. We are looking for proven supervisory ability and strong trade skills.

We will ask for proof of your trade background, qualifications and experience. We may also ask to see examples of your work and complete a short practical skills assessment, including paperhanging.
