Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that all kitchen areas are hygienic and well-stocked, enabling chefs and kitchen staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in hospitality, food preparation, and culinary operations to gain valuable experience within a dynamic setting. The position we have available is a zero contract, the ideal candidate would should be able to work around 30 hours a week, typically over a period of 5 days.
Responsibilities
- Washing, cleaning, and sanitising dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to uphold hygiene standards
- Assisting with basic food preparation tasks as directed by the kitchen team
- Ensuring the cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Restocking supplies and ingredients to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Supporting the movement of goods and ingredients around the kitchen area
- Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures efficiently
- Maintaining a tidy workspace at all times to promote safety and organisation within the kitchen environment
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
- Familiarity with food preparation, cooking, or serving roles is beneficial
- Experience working in a busy kitchen environment or within culinary operations is desirable
- Knowledge of health and safety standards relevant to food service environments will be considered an asset
