URS Ltd is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to join our organisation as a Certification Apprentice within a structured three-year professional apprenticeship programme.
This role offers a unique pathway into the global certification industry, combining hands-on experience, internal mentoring, and professional external training. Over the course of the programme, you will gain in-depth knowledge of certification processes, regulatory compliance, and management system auditing while working closely with experienced professionals across the organisation.
By the end of the programme, you will have developed a strong foundation for a long-term professional career within the certification and assurance sector.
About the Programme
Our three-year apprenticeship programme has been carefully designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of how a Certification Body operates. You will gain exposure to multiple departments and develop practical knowledge across technical, regulatory, commercial, and operational areas of the business.
You will report directly to a Company Director, ensuring regular mentorship, guidance, and strategic insight throughout your development.
Your progress will be supported through structured reviews and development discussions to ensure you are gaining the skills and experience required to succeed.
What You Will Learn
Throughout the programme you will gain valuable experience in:
- UK Local Office certification processes
- Regulatory compliance relating to certification activities
- Commercial and financial aspects of certification services
- Certification standards and requirements
- Management system certification scopes
- Understanding diverse business sectors and industries
- Operational processes within a certification body
Professional Training
Internal Training
You will receive extensive internal training covering:
- Certification procedures and operational systems
- Certification standards and compliance requirements
- Industry sectors and certification scopes
- Commercial and financial processes supporting certification services
External Professional Training
You will also undertake external professional training to develop auditing competencies for internationally recognised management system standards, including:
- ISO 9001 – Quality Management Systems
- ISO 14001 – Environmental Management Systems
- ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
This training will support the development of professional auditing knowledge and industry-recognised competencies.

At the conclusion of the three-year apprenticeship, successful candidates will have developed the skills and knowledge required to pursue a variety of roles within the organisation.
