About Loom
Loom is an exciting new event and hire space in Matlock, backed by an established local company with many years of experience in hospitality, customer service and business development.
We are now looking for the right person to help us take Loom through its next stage of growth.
This isn’t simply an events role. We’re looking for someone who can help us build a business – developing relationships, generating bookings, creating fantastic events and helping establish the systems and commercial partnerships that will support Loom’s long-term growth.
Our longer-term vision includes developing the B2B and trade side of the business, so there is genuine scope for this role to grow considerably alongside Loom.
The Role
Initially this will be a part-time position with flexible hours, allowing time to be focused where it has the greatest impact on developing the business.
As Loom grows, there is potential for the hours, responsibilities and seniority of the role to increase.
You’ll work closely with the business owners but will have the freedom to bring ideas, create opportunities and help shape how Loom develops.
Your role will include:
Business Development & Sales
- Building relationships with local businesses, suppliers and service providers
- Developing a strong network of trusted local partners
- Identifying new opportunities for partnerships and collaborations
- Proactively generating enquiries and bookings
- Following up leads and converting enquiries into customers
- Helping develop Loom’s longer-term B2B and trade offering
- Representing Loom professionally within the local business community
Bookings & Customer Experience
- Managing enquiries from initial contact through to confirmed booking
- Building relationships with customers and understanding what they want from their event
- Coordinating suppliers and external providers where required
- Ensuring customers receive an organised, friendly and professional experience throughout
Events
- Helping customers develop ideas for their events
- Creating and styling the space
- Coordinating event set-up
- Hosting and overseeing selected events
- Working with local suppliers and creatives to develop packages and event concepts
- Helping us create our own events that showcase the space and generate new business
Business & Systems Development
- Helping create simple, effective booking and customer-management systems
- Developing processes as the business grows
- Identifying opportunities to make the business more efficient and commercially successful
- Helping develop packages, services and new revenue streams
- Contributing ideas rather than simply following an existing formula
Marketing & Social Media
- Understanding how social media can be used to generate awareness, relationships and bookings
- Working alongside the wider business to create marketing ideas and campaigns
- Capturing and identifying content opportunities around events
- Building relationships with relevant local businesses, suppliers and communities online
About You
We’re particularly interested in someone who has a sales and/or business development background and genuinely enjoys building relationships.
You don’t necessarily need to have worked in an event venue before. We’re more interested in finding someone commercially minded, organised and creative who can see opportunities and make things happen.
Essential
- Previous sales, account management or business development experience
- Strong experience building professional relationships
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Confident dealing with customers and businesses
- Commercially minded with the confidence to generate and follow up opportunities
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple bookings and projects
- Good understanding of social media and modern marketing
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
- Flexible approach to working hours, including availability for some events
We’d Love Someone Who Is
Creative. Commercial. Organised. Personable. Proactive.
Someone who can walk into a local business and start a conversation, then come back to Loom and help turn that relationship into an opportunity.
You’ll enjoy being given the freedom to develop ideas rather than needing every part of the role mapped out for you.
Why Join Loom?
This is an unusual opportunity to join a business at the beginning of its growth while having the security and experience of an established company behind it.
You’ll have the opportunity to influence how Loom develops, build relationships across the local area and see the direct impact of your work.
We’re deliberately keeping the initial role flexible. As the business grows, we’d like the right person to grow with it.
For someone ambitious who enjoys sales, people, events and building businesses, there is significant potential for this position to develop into a much larger role.
