Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Care Home professional to oversee and perform maintenance tasks within our residential care facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and safety of all building systems, providing exceptional service to residents and staff alike. This role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, combined with leadership qualities to supervise and guide junior team members. The successful applicant will possess a strong technical background, with experience in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, and be committed to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems within the care home.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults using schematics and technical manuals.
- Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to manage building automation systems effectively.
- Perform welding and other fabrication tasks as required to repair or modify equipment.
- Read and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, and manuals for maintenance procedures.
- Supervise maintenance staff or contractors during repairs or upgrades, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Assist in planning long-term maintenance projects to improve facility infrastructure.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing residents’ maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
Requirements
- Proven experience with electrical systems, mechanical knowledge, and general maintenance tasks within a residential or commercial environment.
- Strong understanding of schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in welding techniques with relevant certification preferred.
- Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is highly desirable.
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics accurately.
- Supervising experience in a maintenance setting is preferred; leadership qualities are essential.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a professional approach when interacting with residents and staff.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant qualifications in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent practical experience is advantageous.
