We’re looking for a Technical Assistant to join our Food Science & Innovation team, supporting critical technical and microbiological processes that ensure the safety, quality, and excellence of our products. The Role
You’ll play a key role in supporting the technical function, ensuring our food safety and quality systems are effective, compliant, and continuously improving.
This is a hands-on role where you will:
- Carry out microbiological sampling and submit samples for analysis
- Support investigations into non-conformances and abnormal lab results
- Assist with shelf-life testing and product assessments
- Support auditing activity and compliance checks across the site
- Help manage documentation, labelling approvals and internal systems
- Carry out equipment calibration checks and internal audits
- Support supplier non-conformance processes
- Assist with technical projects and innovation work
- Contribute to continuous improvement across technical processes
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Detail-oriented with a strong analytical mindset
- Organised and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A confident communicator who can work across teams
- Passionate about food safety and quality
- Hands-on, proactive and keen to learn
Experience & Knowledge
- Previous experience in food manufacturing (or similar)
- Understanding of food safety and quality systems
- Degree in Food Science/Technology (or equivalent)
- Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
- Experience of auditing (desirable, not essential)
Working Pattern
- 5-day working week (including Sunday–Thursday on alternate weeks)
- 37.5 hours per week
- Typically 8:00am – 4:00pm
- 2 days per week starting at 6:00am
- Flexibility required to meet business needs
