Electrical Design Engineer
We are looking for an Electrical Designer to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, with a strong focus on the industrial sector and operating mainly within the design & build market, delivering high-quality electrical design solutions from RIBA Stage 4 through to handover.
Role Responsibilities
- Produce full electrical designs, calculations, and supporting documentation from Stage 4 (technical design) through to final handover.
- Collaborate closely with the design and project teams to deliver projects that meet client expectations.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and best practice.
- Support the successful delivery of multiple concurrent projects, balancing priorities as required.
Candidate Profile
- HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent in Electrical Design.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Collaborative and team-oriented, able to work effectively in an office environment.
- Flexible and willing to travel when required.
- Experience across a variety of project types, ideally with significant industrial sector and design & build experience.
Software Skills
- Proficient in: MS Office, AutoCAD, Amtech/Trimble, Relux.
- Desirable experience with: Revit, Navisworks.
Technical Knowledge
- Familiar with industry standards:
o BS7671 – IET Wiring Regulations
o BS5266 – Emergency Lighting Code of Practice
o BS5839 – Fire Detection & Fire Alarms
- Understanding of BIM Stage 2 design process.
- Understanding of the RIBA stages of work, particularly Stage 4 onwards.
- Desirable knowledge of:
o Mechanical systems
o Electric Vehicle chargers
o PV (Solar) systems
