- Diagnose faults using schematics, manuals, and technical knowledge
- Monitor and maintain plant machinery and building systems
- Oversee and maintain emergency lighting, fire systems, and safety equipment
- Carry out and record weekly fire alarm tests
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with all statutory, legal, and health & safety requirements
- Conduct regular safety checks, risk assessments, and audits
- Maintain COSHH compliance and safe working practices
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance, testing, and compliance checks
Team & Contractor Management
- Lead and support the maintenance function (hands-on role)
- Managing a team of 4 team members, which includes a Assistant Maintenance Manager
- Manage and coordinate external contractors to ensure value for money and quality of work
- Work closely with all departments to prioritise and plan maintenance activity
Planning & Projects
- Implement preventative maintenance programmes to reduce downtime
- Manage repair, upgrade, and installation projects within budget and deadlines
- Support operational planning to minimise disruption to the business
Financial & Stock Control
- Maintain awareness of departmental impact on hotel P&L
- Order supplies and manage maintenance stock levels
- Complete monthly stock takes and investigate discrepancies
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a Maintenance Manager or senior maintenance role (ideally within hospitality)
- Strong all-round technical knowledge (electrical, plumbing, mechanical)
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics
- Experience managing contractors and maintenance projects
- Solid understanding of health & safety, compliance, and statutory requirements
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
- Hands-on, proactive, and solution-focused approach
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments
