Wig Consultant – Hairflair by Nicola Jane
Location: Chichester, West Sussex
We’re Hairflair by Nicola Jane (& you could be too.)
At Nicola Jane, we’ve spent over 40 years helping people feel more confident and more like themselves during and after life-changing treatment.
Today, we’re the UK’s leading specialist in post-surgery lingerie and swimwear, supporting customers across the UK through our shops, fitting services, online store and healthcare partnerships.
Our expertise has now grown further.
Through Hairflair by Nicola Jane, we provide specialist wig and hair loss support for people experiencing hair loss as a result of cancer treatment, alopecia, medical conditions and other causes.
And now, we’re bringing that expertise to our home in Chichester.
Where we’re at
We’re launching a brand-new wig consultation service from our lovely specialist space at Nicola Jane HQ in Chichester – and we’re looking for a Wig Consultant to help us make it something really special.
This is much more than selling wigs.
For many of our customers, choosing a wig comes at an emotional and sometimes overwhelming point in their lives. Our role is to make that experience feel comfortable, reassuring and positive.
You'll provide friendly, knowledgeable and highly personalised consultations, helping each customer find a style that looks great, feels comfortable and, most importantly, helps them feel like themselves.
As one of the people establishing our new Chichester service, you'll also have the opportunity to help us build awareness locally, develop relationships with healthcare professionals and create a service our customers genuinely recommend to others.
Wig Consultations & Fitting
Making people feel welcome: Creating a warm, private and reassuring environment from the moment each customer arrives.
Understanding the individual: Taking time to understand each customer's hair loss, lifestyle, preferences and what they would like to achieve from their wig.
Finding the right solution: Advising customers on suitable wig styles, colours, constructions, fibres and fitting options.
Expert fitting: Professionally fitting wigs to ensure they are secure, comfortable and natural-looking.
Personalising the result: Making minor adjustments and styling wigs where appropriate to achieve the best possible fit and finish.
Sharing your knowledge: Explaining the differences between synthetic and human-hair wigs, cap constructions, styling options and different product features in a way that is easy to understand.
Providing aftercare: Giving customers clear advice on wig care, washing, styling, storage and maintenance to help them get the best from their wig.
Being there afterwards: Providing ongoing advice, adjustments and aftercare support when customers need us.
Customer Care
Creating confidence: Helping customers feel comfortable and supported during what can sometimes be an emotional experience.
Listening first: Understanding that everyone's experience of hair loss is different and adapting your approach to the individual.
Providing choice without pressure: Helping customers make informed decisions without making the consultation feel sales-led.
Respecting privacy: Handling sensitive conversations and personal information with professionalism, empathy and discretion.
Going the extra mile: Looking for the small things that can make someone's experience genuinely memorable.
Building Our Chichester Wig Service
As this is a new service, you'll have an exciting opportunity to help us establish and grow Hairflair by Nicola Jane in the local area.
You'll help us:
- Build awareness of our Chichester wig consultation service.
- Develop relationships with local hospitals, cancer services, oncology teams, dermatology teams and healthcare professionals.
- Build connections with local cancer support organisations, charities and community groups.
- Encourage referrals and recommendations into the service.

- Work with our Marketing team to promote the service and share appropriate customer stories and information.
- Identify opportunities to develop our private wig consultation service.
- Gather customer feedback and help us continually improve the experience.
Appointments & Administration
Managing consultations: Ensuring appointments are prepared for and customers receive a smooth experience from booking through to aftercare.
Keeping accurate records: Maintaining clear and accurate customer consultation, order and product information within our systems.
Ordering for customers: Identifying products that need to be ordered and ensuring customers are kept informed of expected timescales.
Managing follow-ups: Contacting customers when wigs arrive and arranging fitting or follow-up appointments where required.
Keeping the space beautiful: Ensuring the consultation room and wig displays remain welcoming, professional and well presented.
Supporting stock: Helping maintain appropriate wig, hairpiece and accessory stock for the Chichester service.
Working as One Team
Although you'll be the specialist face of our Chichester wig service, you won't be doing it alone.
You'll work closely with colleagues across Hairflair, Nicola Jane and Browns More Hair Now, sharing expertise and helping us provide an exceptional service for people experiencing hair loss.
You'll also work alongside our Breast Care Specialists and Customer Experience teams, recognising that many of our customers may benefit from more than one of the specialist services we provide.
What we're looking for
You don't need to have it all, but here's what would help:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in wig consultation, fitting, hairdressing, styling or another relevant customer-facing role.
- A genuine desire to support people experiencing hair loss.
- A naturally warm, compassionate and reassuring approach.
- Confidence working one-to-one with customers in a private consultation environment.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- The ability to build trust quickly and make people feel comfortable.
- Strong attention to detail and an eye for style, colour and fit.
- Good organisation and the ability to manage appointments, customer records and follow-ups.
- Confidence working independently while being part of a wider team.
- A proactive attitude and enthusiasm for helping us grow a new service.
Bonus points if you have:
- Previous experience fitting or styling wigs or hairpieces.
- Hairdressing or hair styling experience.
- Experience supporting customers experiencing cancer-related or medical hair loss.
- Knowledge of synthetic and human-hair wigs.
- Experience working within healthcare, oncology, dermatology or a specialist retail environment.
- Experience developing relationships with healthcare professionals or referral partners.
- An existing wig cutting, styling or customisation qualification.
Don't worry if you don't tick every box. For us, having the right person, attitude and ability to connect with customers is just as important as having every piece of experience on day one.
What makes this role special
Hair loss can have a huge impact on someone's confidence and sense of identity.
Sometimes the difference you make will be helping someone find the perfect style.
Sometimes it will be explaining what to expect before chemotherapy begins.
And sometimes it will simply be giving someone the time, privacy and reassurance they need on a difficult day.
You'll have the opportunity to help build our Chichester service from the beginning, while being supported by businesses with decades of specialist experience in helping people through cancer treatment, surgery and hair loss.
If you love working with people and want a role where your skills can make a genuine difference every day, we'd love to hear from you.
