Overview
We are seeking a proactive and energetic Yardman to join our dynamic team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of our yard and warehouse area, ensuring materials are handled efficiently and safely. Your hands-on approach and mechanical aptitude will help keep our logistics running seamlessly, supporting construction projects, shipping, and receiving activities. Duties
- Load and unload materials using forklifts and other warehouse equipment, ensuring safety and accuracy at all times
- Manage shipping and receiving processes by verifying inbound and outbound shipments, preparing necessary documentation, and coordinating deliveries
- Operate forklifts safely to move heavy loads around the yard and warehouse area
- Conduct routine inspections of yard equipment, including forklifts, to ensure mechanical reliability and safety compliance
- Assist with warehouse organization by stacking, sorting, and storing materials efficiently
- Support construction-related activities by handling materials and tools required on-site
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the yard area to promote a safe working environment
Skills
- Proven experience operating forklifts with certification preferred
- Strong timber merchant experience with familiarity in warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic repairs or troubleshoot equipment issues
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely for extended periods
- Knowledge of materials handling techniques and safety procedures
- Experience in shipping & receiving processes, including documentation and inventory control
- Construction experience or familiarity with construction sites is a plus
