Barista Role at The Green, Wembdon Village Hall.
This role will be on a rota basis with some weeks being more hours than others. Ideally the successful candidate would have the ability to cover our current full time staffs annual leave, and are flexible on a rota basis. This role would be EVERY Saturday. (Saturday Summer hours 9.30am-1.30pm and winter hours 8.30am-12.30pm with flexibility for longer hours for events).
(Example Rota for 15 hours - Wednesday 10-1, Thursday 10-1, Friday 10-2 and Saturday 9-2)
Employment start date July 1st 2026 (training throughout June would be ideal to fufill the full role by the start date)

Summary of Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic team member, who is passionate about coffee while delivering great customer service. Previous experience would be ideal, but full training will be provided. Working alongside the coffee shop team, your primary role will be to make great coffee, serve our customers, prepare the food, clear tables and wash up as directed.
Personal requirements
· A hardworking; honest; dependable; self-motivated person with (ideally) some coffee shop experience.
· Ideally have at-least 1 year experience in making barista coffees.
· Be prepared to take Level 2 Training in Food Hygiene, Allergen training and have a basic understanding of safe working practices and have the confidence to address any obvious health and safety concerns
· Be organised and able to use initiative
· Prepared to support a varied routine over 6 days, including every Saturday.
· Be confident to work alongside a junior on a weekend, and be confident to deal with any complaints which may occur.
· Physically fit and capable of manoeuvring heavy and awkward equipment using the safe systems and equipment provided.
Where necessary complete relevant training courses and certificates as requested by The Coffee Shop Manager Manager
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Serving
· Monday - Friday your roles would be to help assist the coffee shop manager and supervisor, this will include roles such as taking order, washing up, clearing tables, cleaning tasks and many more. On a Saturday your role will be the same as the above, including barista, and directing the Juniors.
· Making great tasting Barista style coffee and other hot and cold drinks, prepared to travel to Clifton Coffee for training and learn from our own coffee specialist.
· Serve customers by accurately taking orders and customer payments.
· Ensure that the Coffee Shop is kept clean and tidy at all times by clearing and cleaning tables and washing up as needed, keeping up with the daily paperwork.
· Serve with juniors on a Saturday morning for our morning hours, working closely to ensure they are aware of the activites they are needed to cover on shift and provide great customer service at all times.
Maintenance & Safety
· Promptly notify Premises Manager of any new maintenance issues i.e. furniture and fittings defects or damage to internal / external fabric.
· Ensure that all fire exits are clear from any obstruction. If necessary, remove any obstruction.
· Ensure any hazards identified or reported are immediately cordoned off and made safe. Report these incidents to the Premises Manager
Security
· On arrival check for damage to the premises. Report any damage to the Premises Manager
· On departing, check the buidling is left securely and set the alarm if no one else is in the building.
Supervision of the Premises
· In conjunction with the on-site team, open and close the car park gates if required
· Open / close the Hall at times appropriate to the ‘booking schedule’ and then secure the premises when the Hall is not in use
Coffee Shop cleaning.
· Carry out cleaning of the facilities as agreed with The Coffee Shop Manager, following the cleaning checklists and signing them off.
General
· Have a basic understanding of the fire safety regulations, Health & Safety regulations, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), emergency procedures and rules for safe evacuation of the Village Hall.
· Assist The Coffee Shop Manager with tasks as requested.

PLEASE NOTE: Whilst we will make every effort to accommodate individual requests for working hours but the shift pattern will be set by the demands of the coffee shop opening hours. The Green is a multi use venue and is in use 7 days a week from 8am until 9pm weekdays and until midnight at the weekend. The Coffee Shop is currently open Monday to Friday 9am until 3pm and on a Saturday morning.
Pay: From £12.71 per hour
