This Kitchen Manager role will entail preparing and cooking as per the Cafe menu including serving the customers attending the café. The post holder will be required to support the front of house with general duties as required.
As the Community Wellbeing Cafe evolves, the postholder will be expected to work with and manage volunteers that work in the kitchen environment giving people an opportunity to practice their skills in a café environment, develop a menu and use catering equipment.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring high standards of food hygiene are maintained in the kitchen by all staff and volunteers. Maintaining an up to-date Safer Food Better Business for Caterers and HACCP file.
The post holder will be required to able to interact with the various groups visiting the café ensuring they feel welcomed.
Hours – 3 days per week to start but more days could be available in the future. 9.30am - 4.00pm.
Pay – Dependent on experience

Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the kitchen staff team to collectively drive forward and achieve the vision for the café.
- Oversee and participate in the delivery of excellent food and customer experience.
- Oversee all health and safety and food hygiene compliance.
- Maintaining an up to-date Safer Food Better Business for Caterers and HACCP file. To oversee and be responsible for compliance with General Data Protection Regulations, Environmental Health and Safety and local rules and regulations.
- Oversee daily responsibilities such as documentation filling/cleaning schedule compliance and monitoring health and safety, adhering to relevant laws and guidance.
- Track and record training for all staff and plan and arrange to ensure all team members are up to date and compliant.
- Support kitchen volunteers ensuring they are up to date with training required for their volunteering position. (In House Training)
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area.
- Work closely with all relevant stakeholders / support functions to maximise opportunities for growth and expansion of the café.
- Work with the team to create exciting menu plans that reflect customer wishes and deliver appropriate profit margins for the café.
- Plan and organise themed events in the café that will bring in custom and support the local community.
Essential Skills/ Experience
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or kitchen environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation within the hospitality setting.
- Knowledge and experience of working with food safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Managing health and safety working practice.
Desirable Skills /experience
- Team management experience.

- Experience in a supervisory position in a catering environment.
- A strong working knowledge of food safety management.

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
